Liberal proposals Hello,
As some of you may know, a future policy of the liberals is to cut military spending to 13 billion. I say that as a minister for war, my department would cope under the pressure of finance. We will spend every penny with wisdom.
The wage is now a minimum of four pounds an hour. Soldiers will be paid this rate on a ten hour day (£40 a day and £14600 a year).
This works out at a base rate of £381,527,200 per year for 26132 men which is the basic number for a regular army under a field marshall. Naturally the officers will have more pay but i have not worked out their wages yet, they are still included in the figure above at £40 a day.
Arming these men will not exceed £522,000 I imagine. Mess staff and the barracks themselves will be paid for, maintenence costs could not be too expensive. The barracks that are no longer needed will be given to the government or sold.
£13 billion is a managable figure. We will have an enlightened society with improved health and education. WE are Britannicans. We deserve the best for our children.
Thank you.

I did try to get the figure to be made higher but Rob wants to keep it like this I just hope we can work together to make this work.

I hope we can Peter.

So wait, you are saying that weaposn will cost no more than £10.76p for each soldier. Yoou must be mad, and yet you have forgotten the cost of the navy and aiurforce, oil, foul, aircrfat on teh carriers, their wages. Also you have forgotten artillery, advanced technical equipment for our soldiers, naval men, and air force.
Your sums are complete load of rubbish.
Grace Tyler- 04-14-2005
I shall be waiting for a long time for answer for this wont I.
Slim- 04-14-2005
In answer to your first question, the cost of weapons is based on 26000 men, the basic size of an army. The numbers will be boosted by the specialist troops like Ordnance and Armour.
As for the second question, not long.
Slim- 04-14-2005
Tell us the cost of the navy and airforce and we can act on it.
For the army, i dont think ive exceeded a few billion yet.
PeterJS- 04-14-2005
Lets not forget a weapon can last wel over 1 year per man.
Grace Tyler- 04-14-2005
Soi your are saying that each rifel will cost only £20.
PeterJS- 04-14-2005
can you tell us where you get your figures.
Maybe if you are to list all of the figures of every part of the Defence we will be able to give you a lot more detail.
Grace Tyler- 04-14-2005
We shall then, no one ever bloody asks.
PeterJS- 04-14-2005
good then. That will help alot more thank you.
Grace Tyler- 04-14-2005
By the way, cutting the dence budget by that much, our troops will be cut down to 48,500. £13bn of £63bn is 20.6%. 20.6% of 235,000 troops (the number of troops is mentioned in a war office report) is 48,500.
PeterJS- 04-14-2005
am not defending the massive cuts i tried to get Rob to not make such big cuts but its his policy and his party.
Grace Tyler- 04-14-2005
Good Peter, defend our forces.
